DHX MEDIA LAUNCHES 2ND ANIMAL MECHANICALS DVD

Halifax, NS – 21 January 2010 – DHX Media Ltd (TSX: “DHX”), a leading independent international producer and distributor of mainly children’s television programming and interactive content is pleased to announce the launch of the second DVD of Animal Mechanicals at select retailers across Canada including Walmart, Toys R Us, Movie Gallery, Cinema 1, Reynaud Bray, Best Buy, Columbia House and Loblaws. Animal Mechanicals – Turbo Islands, distributed in cooperation with Phase 4 Films, follows the retail success of the series’ first DVD installment, Animal Islands with major retailers, including Walmart, committing to stock both of these Canadian releases. One additional Animal Mechanicals DVD title, Sky Islands, is expected to launch this spring.

Also, following the broadcast success of Animal Mechanicals on Discovery Latin America, Animal Mechanicals DVDs will also be available for the first time in Brazil and in Mexico and the Caribbean where they will be distributed by ST2 and Tycoon, respectively.

Animal Mechanicals is one of the CBC’s top-rating preschool shows and also scores high ratings around the world on Disney Channels in the UK, France and Asia; ABC2 in Australia, M-Net in South Africa, Radio-Canada, Discovery Latin America, Romania’s HOP, EBS in Korea; Al-Jazeera Children Channel and Prava I Prevodi. Animal Mechanicals is an action adventure series for preschoolers that combines fantastical worlds, mythical animals and cool quests. And, best of all, Animal Mechanicals transform! Big as dinosaurs and twice as powerful… meet the Animal Mechanicals: Rex, Unicorn, Komodo, Sasquatch and Mouse. They live and play in a place unlike any other: a colorful “snap-together-take-apart” world. Their world can also transform, just like the Animal Mechanicals. Imagine an incredible interconnecting and interactive play-set! Things are always popping up, changing shape and, most of all, presenting challenges to the Animal Mechanicals.

Animal Mechanicals can be seen in Canada on the CBC at 7:30 AM each week day morning. Please visit http://www.halifaxfilm.com/productions/animalmechanics for more information.
